EBL Global Final

A celebration of innovation

Baltimore, MD | Sep 28 - Oct 1, 2019

About the Global Final

The IEEE Empower a Billion Lives (EBL) global final competition organized by PELS will include presentations by the winning teams, with the award of >$200,000 in prizes. To learn more about EBL click on the Home button.

Starting from a pool of 459 registered teams from 70+ countries, EBL has gone through a rigorous evaluation process by a team of international experts at five regional competitions to select 23 global finalists. Selection of the final winners will be based on technology, social impact, business models and field-testing data. The EBL Global Final will be held in Baltimore on September 28/29, 2019, followed by the IEEE Energy Access Workshop and EBL Prize Ceremony on October 1, 2019.

The workshop will bring together experts from global aid organizations, NGOs and foundations involved in energy access, as well as a cadre of technical experts from the IEEE, to begin to explore how solutions that are technically and economically viable can be developed and deployed at scale.

Key issues to be addressed include technology, social impact, business models, regulatory issues, climate impact and sustainability.
